Uncle Ted: A G.I.’s Journal of World War II — Book Trailer
Author: Barbara Gibby | Genre: Non-Fiction
Project Overview
This book trailer was created to honor and visually amplify Uncle Ted: A G.I.’s Journal of World War II by Barbara Gibby—a deeply personal and historically rich account of one man’s wartime experience. The goal of the trailer was to capture both the emotional weight of World War II and the intimate, reflective nature of a soldier’s personal journal, drawing viewers into a story of courage, sacrifice, and legacy.
Creative Approach & Inspiration
Inspired by archival photography and classic wartime imagery, I designed this trailer to feel authentic, reverent, and cinematic. The visual narrative blends the book cover, period-appropriate textures, patriotic color palettes, and subtle motion effects to evoke the era while maintaining a modern promotional aesthetic. The pacing and transitions were intentionally measured to allow the story’s emotional gravity to resonate with viewers.
Production Process
The trailer was crafted using layered visuals, motion graphics, and atmospheric effects to bring the historical subject matter to life. Emphasis was placed on typography, image composition, and visual continuity to ensure the book remained the focal point throughout. Strategic text animation and visual storytelling were used to clearly communicate the book’s theme and availability while preserving a respectful tone appropriate for historical nonfiction.
