Elephant Ales Books — Author Portfolio & eCommerce Showcase

Project type

Author Website with eCommerce / Book Showcase Integration

Elephant Ales Books is a custom author website designed to showcase the work of children’s book author Ed Damiano and provide an engaging, easy-to-navigate experience for readers, fans, and book purchasers. The site highlights featured titles, author biography, reviews, and direct purchase options — all wrapped in a playful, story-inspired design that reflects the whimsical and heartfelt tone of the author’s work.

In approaching this project, my goal was to craft a professional yet inviting web presence that helps build the author’s brand while making it simple for visitors to explore books and place orders. From the moment users land on the homepage, they are greeted with clear visual hierarchy, intuitive navigation, and engaging calls-to-action that support both discovery and conversion. Key decisions in layout, color, and typography were influenced by the author’s literary voice — balancing readability with personality.

I collaborated closely with the author to understand his audience — primarily parents, educators, and children’s literature enthusiasts — and ensured that every design choice supported accessibility, ease of use, and emotional connection. Custom sections such as featured book galleries, review highlights, and biography blocks were crafted to encourage deeper engagement and build trust with new visitors.

The project involved responsive design for seamless viewing across devices, integration of order and contact forms, and optimization of content flow to drive both storytelling and book sales. The final result is a vibrant, user-centric author website that functions both as a digital portfolio of published work and a direct sales platform that reinforces Ed Damiano’s creative brand.
